Association Update

ISES CPD 2000 to Feature Top Industry Professionals Industry leaders and Certified Special Events Professionals are slated to teach at the International Special Events Society's annual Conference for Professional Development, Aug. 5-8 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Ariz.

Scheduled speakers include Fran Berman, Future Focus; Deborah Borsum, CSEP, The Meetinghouse Cos.; Tony Conway, CMP, and Teresa Day, Legendary Events; Betty Garrett, CSEP, The Garrett Hospitality Group; Dr. Joe Jeff Goldblatt, CSEP, George Washington University; Robert Hulsmeyer, CSEP, Empire Force Events; Debbie Meyers, CSEP, Bravo Entertainment; Bill Quain, Quain Enterprises II; David Sorin, CSEP, Current Events International; and Gwen Ware, The Electronic Pencil.

CSEP Plus workshops will cover different portions of the CSEP exam. Suzanne Bristow, CSEP, Crossroads Entertainment; event planner Lena Malouf, CSEP; Kathy Nelson, CSEP, University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Julia Rutherford Silvers, CSEP, Expo Events; Robert Sivek, CSEP, The Meetinghouse Cos.; and Betsy Wiersma, CSEP, Creative Event Development, will lead the workshops.

ISES director of professional development Glenna Henry-Alibegovic says the Education Committee "has worked hard to put together a fantastic curriculum designed to guide us into the new millennium."

MPI Names Vice President of Professional Development Meeting Professionals International has promoted Marsha Veach to vice president of professional development. Her staff will develop and administer educational programming at MPI's World Education Congress and Professional Education Conference-North America as well as other educational programming.

Veach has been with MPI for seven years, starting as an intern in the Education Department. Most recently, she held the post of director of partnership marketing.
