New in New York: Marathon insurance Organizers of the New York City Marathon, held Sunday, hedged their bets. In an unprecedented move, race organizers insured the event against cancellation, thus protecting the estimated $20 million a year the race brings in, the Wall Street Journal reports. City marathons have had it tough this year: Chicago stopped its marathon last month in response to brutal heat, and a storm nearly forced Boston to do the same in April. Heartfelt Halloween To bring a little cheer to the children evacuated by the Southern California wildfires, DMC ACCESS Destination Services staffers in Orange County assembed dozens of goodie bags including costumes, makeup, candy, coloring books and toys. The company delivered the bags to Red Cross shelters in affected areas. In addition, the company raised $500 in cash to help the Red Cross.
