Special Events Honor Release of 'Mockingbird' Sequel

Cities in Alabama celebrate the release of native daughter Harper Lee's sequel to her beloved novel "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Some big special events—at least for small-town Monroeville, Ala.—took place Tuesday for the release of the long-waited novel from renowned author and local resident Harper Lee. That day, bookstores began selling her "Go Set a Watchman," sequel to the beloved "To Kill a Mockingbird":

The town of Monroeville will hold events throughout Tuesday, including at 6 a.m. when the Old Courthouse Museum will open. A walking tour of Monroeville will start at 9 a.m. at the Monroe County Public Library, and from 4-5 p.m. there will be a cocktail hour at the Old Courthouse Museum's lawn, with mint juleps.
