Special events business news this week includes a new director of events and event services at Houston's the Post Oak.

Leo Hamel has been named director of events and event services at the Post Oak, a new luxury mixed-use high rise in Houston. He will oversee the event sales division with responsibility for the planning and execution of all social and corporate events.

New York-based RWS Entertainment Group has appointed Kevin Kreczko as senior director of business development for events and attractions. 

San Francisco-based Standard Party Rentals has been expanding its operations. The company announced that it acquired the Modesto, Calif., location of Classic Party Rentals in July. This month, the company opened a showroom in Sacramento, Calif., and announced the addition of consultant Isabel Galindo to the team.

AMA Executive Conference Centers, a network of professional meeting and conference spaces, announces the completion of a 13,000-square-foot expansion and renovation project of two floors of its New York City Center. The center is now more than 90,000 square feet and offers a total of 43 meeting rooms--making it the largest conference center located in Manhattan’s theater district.

Heinrich von Puschendorf joins the team at the Cliff House Maine in Neddick, Maine, as food and beverage director.
