Westin New York Renovates Meeting Space
The Westin New York at Times Square has just completed a $1.6 million renovation of its ninth floor meeting and event space. The renovation includes seven meeting rooms and the New York Atrium—a total of 8,760 square feet. The atrium now includes a backlit wall and bi-level serpentine bar that can be used for social functions. In keeping with the hotel's environmentally friendly values, the carpet, wall coverings and wood doors are all made of recycled materials, and LED lighting provides energy savings while reducing the property's carbon footprint. All told, the property offers more than 34,000 square feet of flexible meeting space in 32 meeting and breakout rooms, the atrium, and three ballrooms ranging from 220 square feet to 3,500 square feet.

The 700-acre resort Wilderness at the Smokies, located in Sevierville, Tenn., offers 200,000 square feet of space available for hosting major youth sporting competitions such as gymnastics, cheerleading, basketball, karate, wrestling, volleyball, BMX and skateboarding. The property includes nearly 1,000 guest rooms and multi-room suites in addition to condominiums and the Wyndham Vacation Resort, six restaurants, two 18-hole golf courses, gift shops, convenience stores, lounges, two outdoor waterparks and a seven-acre indoor waterpark. A new indoor park—Adventure Forest—is slated to open in March, nearly doubling the resort's indoor offerings.

Fairmont Pacific Rim Expands Ballroom
The Star Sapphire Ballroom at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, British Columbia, has undergone a $500,000 renovation and now offers 12,322 square feet of flexible, multifunctional space. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide sweeping views of Stanley Park, Coal Harbour and the North Shore Mountains. The 377-room property is attached to the newly expanded west wing of the Vancouver Convention Centre, with both a covered walkway and elevator access to the building. All told, the property offers more than 15,000 square feet of meeting space that includes a second ballroom for up to 250 guests, two boardrooms, four meeting rooms, a 24-seat state-of-the-art multimedia theater and the Owner's Suite—a rooftop terrace available for dinner events of up to 60 guests.
