SMG, Microsoft announce national agreement

Philadelphia-based facilities manager SMG announced this week that it has finalized an agreement with Microsoft making SMG and its 46 convention centers the software giant’s “preferred venues.” These convention centers include the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Miami Beach Convention Center and the Louisiana Superdome, all of which have served as host venue for recent international Microsoft events.

In a press release, Microsoft director of events Jeff Singsaas said, “Consistent with the business consolidation strategy we have been following over the past 18 months, this agreement with SMG supports our event managers’ efficiency in evaluating and subsequently booking space while driving cost and people resources out of the planning process. This new agreement with SMG makes it easy to partner with them.”

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft produces more than 5,000 meetings, product launches and special events each year with a staff of 45 full-time meeting planners, technical and creative producers, executive presentation experts and business managers.
