With a twist on the popular "Havana Nights" theme, Koncept Events took the opportunity to create “Viva Cuba Libre!” for a client at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne in Miami. The event for 600 guests was held within the hotel’s ballroom and patio spaces.
Here, a centerpiece in the foyer.
In signature Koncept Events style, the design began with mixed seating in the foyer. Inspired by what you might see going into an abuela’s home, bright linens with custom floral table runners were surrounded by varying vintage-style chairs and stools.
To complement each look, the Koncept Events’ floral department created a multitude of centerpiece designs to put the finishing touches on nearly 100 tables.
The looks were built around elements like fresh mint, real pineapple vases, fruit bowls, colored glass bottles, coffee cans, and, of course, the favorite--cigar boxes!
Within the ballroom, a 20- by-12-foot mural of the streets of Cuba showcasing vintage cars and signature architecture acted as a backdrop to a lounge boasting furniture in mixed fabrics and finishes.
Overhead, oversized red chandeliers helped create a club atmosphere, which was further enhanced by a custom 24- by-16-foot stage.

Finishing touches for the overall design included a lighting package with uplights and patterned gobos as well as string lights on the hotel’s patio.
A live cigar roller and Cuban coffee station provided interactive entertainment.
The hotel’s food stations were set inside 10- by-10-foot cabanas that were draped with white panels and accented with tropical foliage.
Each food station was treated with oversized arrangements to coordinate with the arrangements at the area bars.

Themed bars became stunning focal pieces, starting with two Mojito Bars.
Eight-foot illuminated bar units were wrapped with a mosaic tile print and topped with an overhead shelf featuring "A" frame supports and a deep box tray base, which was brimming with fresh mint, limes and floral accents.
Thematic chalk board signs were placed within the structures reading “Menta” and “Limones.”

An alternate look, the Rum Bar, was anchored with two 8-foot vinyl chocolate tufted bar units, which were backed by a 13-foot-wide stained wood back bar featuring sconces, vintage style marquee letters reading “RUM BAR,” working shelves to display bottles and a center mirror with a custom “Havana Club” logo decal.
The bar was finished with two large, vibrant arrangements of spring blooms, tropical greenery and island fruit.

Menu descriptions were placed inside mosaic frames in coordinating colors atop brightly colored linens.
For the custom 24- by-16-foot stage, the hotel’s risers were covered in beige carpet and finished with reclaimed wood to create the base.
Mosaic tile graphic panels and reclaimed wood panels set the stage backdrop and were layered with details such as a “Viva Cuba Libre” canvas and “A Live Music Joint” marquee sign.

Draping, a foliage package and vintage-style folding screens added the finishing touches for a seven-piece fusion band to play to the crowd all night long.
