Who’s News in Special Events for Sept. 20, 2018

Special events business news this week includes a new director of meetings and incentives at Koncept.

Adrienne Tooley, CMM, CMP, has been promoted to director of meetings and incentive events at Koncept Events, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Koncept is included on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs.”

DMC Network, included on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs,” has announced that Custom Ireland in Dublin has joined the network as an affiliate partner, while Corthinian Events has joined as its new partner in Boston.

Cerys Spadaro and Hollie Herrick have joined big party rental company Party Rental Ltd., based in Teterboro, N.J., as business development managers.

Beth Lobban has joined London-based experiential agency WRG as an executive producer.

Event rental powerhouse Arena Americas, based in Oak Creek, Wis., has entered into a six-year agreement to provide tenting, flooring and other rental equipment for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course, near San Diego.

Big event producer Balich Worldwide Shows, based in Milan, Italy, and Indonesian company Royalindo Convention International have been chosen to create and produce the opening and closing ceremonies for the Asian Paralympic Games, slated for Oct. 6-13 in Jakarta.

James R. Polhemus, CMP, has announced the formation of JRP Inc., located in Washington. The agency offers services including strategic event design, site search and selection, venue and vendor negotiations, and on-site logistics.

Visual artist Vello Virkhaus, former owner of V Squared Labs, and content creator Greg Russell, former owner of Tandem Digital Entertainment, have come together to form XiteLabs, based in Calabasas, Calif. The team's first collaboration will be the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 100th anniversary at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 30.
