WRG, the live and experiential division of The Creative Engagement Group, oversaw 2019 London Car-Free Day on Sept. 22, which took place across more than 27 km (nearly 17 miles) of closed streets in Central London--the equivalent of nearly 200 football pitches in length--including Tower Bridge (closed to all traffic), London Bridge (buses only) and much of the City of London.
WRG's "Reimagine" day opportunities included a range of activities in the themes of "Move," "Play," "Chill," "Taste" and "Show" with more than 30 separate activation sites and over 70 live performances. These included opportunities to ride both classic and the latest bikes across the historic Tower Bridge, spin sessions with Santander bikes, guided bike rides, plus the first-ever opportunity for members of the public to try Santander’s new e-bikes. Bikeworks was at the event to demonstrate its fleet of all-ability cycles, and kids and adults alike were encouraged to have a go on the Bike Stunt Ramp between the professional live shows.
A Relaxation Zone was based in Aldermanbury Square with Wanderlust, which curated a range of well-being activities including yoga, meditation and breathing to create a zen mood all day long. This followed the "Reimagine Sunrise Flow" dynamic yoga sessions, followed by a guided meditation session that took place on Tower Bridge in the early hours of the day.
The Tower of London joined in the celebrations with a special re-creation of the 1381 Peasants Revolt to bring history to the streets.
