A cousin of peonies and anemones, ranunculi are top heavy flowers that will provide any arrangement with a variety of color and texture. Nigella are oval-shaped pods with a rich purple-burgundy hue. Each stem has multiple pods, which are surrounded by a lacy web of fuzzy, dill-like green vines. Dahlias are beautiful but can be expensive and delicate, contributing to waste. Cremons are an excellent substitute for dahlia and come in a variety of colors.
