The fifth annual "Longest Table" event benefits WUSF Public Media by showcasing a striking alfresco waterfront setting along famed Bayshore Drive in St. Petersburg, Fla. Taking a cue from the client’s logo, the floral team from Concept Bait created a richly branded, immersive environment replete with working watermill and 80 running feet of babbling brook, which ran down the center of the tabletop.
Rocks, grass, florals, branches, hidden lighting, small hidden speakers and real running water delighted guests.
For the client--The Mill restaurant--the design team re-created the feel of the "farmstead chic" restaurant.
Of course, the design included a mill for The Mill restaurant. The design team created the "brook" mechanism in four-foot sections in its warehouse, then put all elements--including water--in place on-site.
Concept Bait's design won the "People's Choice" and "Best in Show" honors at the event.
“Egyptian Art Deco” from Fiore Dorato saw some 800 guests stream through a dramatic, imaginative environment. Surrounded by Egyptian-theme props and statues, exotic floral installations, and overgrown paper roots, dramatic colors enhanced with mood lighting brought the theme to life.
Gold, dark browns, black and copper tones made for an effective color palette to accentuate the exotic theme.
"Our objective was to fulfill the client's passion for flower-laden Egyptian gardens and bring this enchanting encounter to the guests," the Fiore Dorato team explains. "Our team created a grand showcase of floral intricacies, and the giant hanging centerpieces with lush flowers."
Fiore Dorato brought members of its team from Singapore and flowers from Holland to the venue in New Orleans. "Going above and beyond what a design team would do to fulfill a client's preferences by transforming the space into an Egyptian Art Deco Garden made this a distinctive project for us, which was satisfying for both the team and our clients," management says.
Fiore Dorato was named winner in "Best Floral Design" at the 2019 Special Events Gala Awards.
