Some 380 corporate and social guests arrive at the gala--for auctions, dinner and cabaret--while 150 younger supporters join in later for the Backstage Bash.

The decor required a color palette of gold, teal, fuchsia and red, integrated with theatrical props to create flow throughout the entire theater. Beginning with the maze of walls draped in fuchsia and teal banners at the valet, guests were met by clowns, friendly piglets, a prince’s horse and Cinderella’s carriage. Stages were set for actors which included a balancing act, a ballerina, and an accordion player.

Registration desk

Guests register at a gold-mirrored registration desk, accented with life-size candelabra props and teal and fuchsia striped piping and drapes. Coat check was set among racks of lighting gear and equipment to initiate the creative concept of being “backstage”. Bronze vases filed with roses were found at registration and below custom “show posters” hung in frames on each side of the door as guests headed to the theater space utilized for the silent auction.

Tasked with creating the design and installation of the gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of a renowned Minneapolis children's theater, the BeEvents team focused on the organization's archives and artisans to create a fundraiser with a "backstage" feel for the Curtain Call Ball.

Tables in the Chandelier Room are dressed with dark gold linens, black chiavari chairs, ivory napkins, and gold bowl centerpieces filled with chandelier parts: crystals, tools, and light bulbs. Each bowl is illuminated with LED lights from inside and surrounded by a ring of red roses.

Curtain Call Ball Backstage Bash

To create the Backstage Bash, the event team removed the auction area's gold drapes and replaced them with white disc curtains. A giant 5-foot disco ball was hung in the center of the room, and nine additional hoop chandeliers of mirrored Mylar confetti floated in the ceiling.
