The fundraising gala for nearly 400 guets was held at the ICA Watershed, the institute's 15,000-square-foot art exhbition space.
Tyger Productions oversaw event design, production, floral and and audiovisual. This year’s sold-out event was attended by nearly 400 guests and raised more than $1.1 million.
The evening honored British artist John Akomfrah, whose work “Purple” will be presented at the ICA Watershed this summer.
Tasked with turning the raw Watershed space into an environment fit for celebration, the ICA turned to Tyger Productions , the go-to event design and production company for corporate, nonprofit and private clients seeking high-impact events and experiential transformations.
Owner Ty Kuppig and his team at Tyger created an immersive design concept that turned the raw tunnel-like space of the Watershed into a sparkling, cosmic environment that connected with the Institute’s forward-thinking position in the art world.
To juxtapose the austere architecture and create a more refined feeling in the space, Kuppig conceptualized a nebula-inspired design incorporating a moody palette of metallics, grays and smoky-purples punctuated with bright pops of white, fuchsia and lavender.
To make the long space more intimate, the team turned to a mix of square, rectangular and round tables.
The square tables, which occupied the center of the symmetrical floor plan, were draped with amethyst-tone linens and adorned with centerpieces composed of glowing cut-crystal spheres accented with groupings of deep pink roses.
The rectangular and round tables (which were hugged by deep tufted white leather banquettes) featured textured charcoal linens, vibrant pink and purple florals and dramatic 72-inch crystal drum candelabras, which filled the dinner space with prismatic illumination and helped balance the height of the lofty ceiling.
A mix of fine china, matte gold flatware and lilac-tinted stemware completed the tablescapes.
Kuppig and his team also incorporated hundreds of feet of mirrored circle-cut panels suspended above the dinner area for a shimmering effect that gracefully danced overhead throughout the night.
To complete the look, Kuppig designed a saturated ombre-effect lighting treatment that gradually transitioned from blue to magenta down the length of the 150-foot-long space.
Party Rental Ltd. provided rentals; Peak Event Services offered tenting.
The entertainment team included Big Party Orchestra and Violin Viiv.
The gala raised more than $1.1 million.
