This year's ball, held April 17, keys on a spring theme, suggesting change and renewal. In a first, the ball was held in tents on the grounds of George Washington University, instead of its traditional home at the Corcoran itself. Perfect Settings handled tenting and rentals.

The cheery reception tent.
Cocktail tables decked out in pink and orange.
Specialty cocktails also played up the garden party theme. Occasions offered a ‘Rose Garden Gimlet’ with St. Germain elderflower liqueur; a ‘Strawberry-Balsamic Bramble’ with a splash of sweet balsamic syrup, and a refreshing ‘Cucumber Lemongrass Agua Fresca.’
Spring-y passed hors d'oeuvre: Occasions' roast tassies filled with spring pea risotto and artichoke hearts stuffed with veal and fontina.

The first course: Miso-glazed Shrimp with Gingery Grapefruit and Cashews-- green and pink, just like the decor!
The main course: Lemony Beef Tenderloin with Favas, Chioggia Beets and New Potatoes--a fresh, seasonal interpretation created just for this event.
And dessert: Chocolate Palet d'Or with Raspberries and Butterflies--the theme of renewal and transformation expressed in a petite chocolate lace butterfly.
