Giant Emmy statues flank the entrance, with starcloth lining the walls. A press preview Wednesday gave guests a sneak peek at the event--the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards Governors Ball, hosted by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
As developed by Images by Lighting, huge, abstract "trees" and a foliage "canopy" extending more than 20,000 square feet slowly change color.
The trees morph from blues to greens ...
..and into violets.
The event layout.
A 60-foot-wide stage at the south end of the room will feature a forest silhouette and performances by a dozen "shadow" dancers.
"Tree" panels punctuate the walls, which are covered with 60 36-foot-tall panels of black starfield drapery, with tiny LED lights handsewn into the fabric.
In the center of the room is an elevated, 60-foot-diameter elevated circular dance floor and platform for the orchestra.
The L'Oreal make-up station on the ballroom floor will be ready for quick touch-ups.

Tables are a mix of rounds and rectangles, with chiavaris and Spandex-covered folding chairs. Classic Party Rentals will handle tabletop and rentals.
A sparkling rectangular table.
La Premier Floral Event Design will handle floral design. Following the ball's directive to support sustainability, centerpieces will feature live orchids and succulents rather than cut flowers; floral elements will be composted afterward.
Silver branches accent this centerpiece.
More pretty floral.
Official wine sponsor Beaulieu Vineyards will provide this custom etched bottle (center) to each winner.
Veteran caterer Patina will create the menu. The first course will be Little Gem lettuce, basil-scented mozzarella, marinated sun-dried tomatoes, heirloom baby beets, sunflower seeds, basil chips and virgin olive oil. The entree is beef filet mignon and red wine-braised short ribs with cippollini onions, a potato-pear gratin and asparagus. Dessert is caramelized Namelaka: devil's food cake, roasted cherries and mascarpone cream.
