Veteran event producer Valerie Percival, who has served as special events manager for IBM Australia for more than 35 years, transforms a Sydney waterfront venue into a "Platinum and Diamond" jewel box for her birthday party. Here, custom crystal centerpieces and crystal parasol chandeliers by Centrepiece by Design
use sealed oil burners to provide a soft glow of real flame throughout the dining area.
A long view of the dinner tables, which sat 70 guests to celebrate Percival's 70th birthday. The design motif keyed on diamonds (50th anniversary) and platinum (20th anniversary) to tally up to 70.
Mirrored acrylic tabletops reflect the centerpieces. Tables are skirted in platinum organza, with menus printed on sheets of clear acrylic, organza napkins and strands of crystal by Maureen Christie Special Event Designs.
Tables are named after legendary women--Venus, Cleopatra and Persephone--based on Percival's initials, VCP.
Clear Ghost chairs from Moreton Hire
keep the room light and modern.

Miniature clear Ghost chairs are used instead of place cards.
Platinum organza curtains are used between the dining area and cocktail and dance floor area. The semi-transparent curtains provide a surface for moving light effects without cutting the venue in two.
Instead of a paper plan, the guest seating list was printed on clear film and applied to an antique mirror by Centrepiece by Design.

As well as the main cake, guests were given miniature cakes in the shape of a diamond. The certificate is one of the birthday gifts: a Scottish deed of entitlement officially recognizing Lady Valerie Percival
