Signature pink color for guest of honor
The signature color of the guest of honor: pink. So the pretty 40th birthday party keyed on the festive color, accented with plenty of bling.
No detail was ignored, including the entrance tent at the venue, which was lined in hot pink satin. The elevator that carried guests to the 14th floor venue was transformed into a miniature lounge, complete with red carpet, pink satin drapery, a small white tufted leather bench and glittering crystal chandeliers.
At the party site, on the 14th floor of the event venue, guests were greeted with 20-foot floor-to-ceiling windows reflecting the soft glow of 10 glowing crystal chandeliers, which had been hung from the ceiling. The goal of the event team: to create a pink event that was sophisticated, versus the look of a Super Sweet 16 party.
Red tufted banquettes
While attendees sipped on specialty cocktails and nibbled on delicious bites, they lounged on red tufted banquettes that seemed to float underneath the sea of chandeliers overhead. A mixture of low cocktail tables draped in hot pink satin and high-top tables with full-length sparkling hot pink sequined linens provided additional places for guests to perch.
Tiers of chandeliers
To meet the client’s desire for a little bling, "We came up with the idea of suspending 10 crystal chandeliers in a line above the seating areas," the Legendary team says. "With three varying heights of sparkling chandeliers, we were able to create a tiered effect, which made a huge impact in the room. The reflection of the chandeliers seen in the oversize windows of the venue made it seem as though there were twice as many chandeliers, only increasing the amount of sparkle and glitz in the space."
Stunning cake table
Set atop a 48-inch round table, covered in a custom black lace linen, sat a six-layer birthday cake in shades of pink and red. Adorning each layer were candy flowers and lips as well as white and black ruffles, which added texture and interest. A 6-foot chandelier was poised above the cake, acting as a glittering cake topper. Atop the table were gunmetal gray mercury glass votives with flickering candles, which gave the table even extra punch.
Stepping outdoors for the after-party
As guests finished eating, they were invited outside to the rooftop terrace, where the after-party was kicking into high gear. Cocktail tables and highboys were scattered around the perimeter of the space for guests to take in the city skyline.
Lounge, then dance
Guests could lounge on sleek white leather furniture, then bust a move on the 18-foot-square checkerboard dance floor.
Caffeine, then dance
Another view. A cappuccino bar was stationed just outside the doors for guests to grab a quick sip of energy.
Kiss DJ booth
At the front of the dance floor stood an 8- by 9-foot lighted acrylic DJ booth complete with a giant “kiss,” inviting guests to dance the night away.
