The BGC team puts a 13,000-square-foot tent on Portland's South Waterfront for the chic 60th birthday party.
The guest of honor was fêted with a surprise birthday celebration, planned months in advance by his wife.
The event showcased an art deco motif, featuring custom-made set pieces including outsize floral arrangements, vacu-formed wall paneling, filagree plinths created with CNC routers, and unique serpentine, dropped crystal lighting fixtures.
The evening included cocktails, a seated dinner and dancing. Set construction was handled by DC Scenic.
The tent accommodated a large cocktail area, comfortable dining room, dance floor, and full proscenium stage.
"As it was an uneven gravel lot, the install required floor decking on three levels, which we exploited to create three distinct areas for the party," the BGC team says. The custom carpet came from DWA Custom.

The four-course seated dinner from Chef Stable was preceded by a lavish hors d'oeuvre reception, with plenty of the host's favorite champagne and specialty Depression-era cocktails.
The Hot Sardines take the stage. Peter Horne of Horne Audio handled sound.
All told, the installation took nine days, "but it was well worth the effort, as the guests had a wonderful time," the BGC team says.
