Special events news this week includes promotions and new hires at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and CSI Florida.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., has promoted Dan Herman to executive chef from his previous role as executive sous chef.

Aleic Grant has joined CSI DMC, included on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs,” as general manager for CSI Florida.

Dave Gerdes has joined the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau in State College, Pa., as director of sales and marketing.

An Event Pros Take Action event.

Event Pros Take Action, a group of event professions who aid communities in need, will host its “West Coast Cov Carnival” on Jan. 11 at Covenant House California in Los Angeles. The carnival will benefit underprivileged youth. The event has been developed to coincide with The Special Event 2019, Jan. 8-10 in San Diego. Find details here.

Alexandria, Va.-based CSG Creative has announced the addition of five new team members: Boney Pandya will serve as associate director, digital; Jess Schafer will serve director of strategic accounts; Elle Lawrence take the role of account specialist; Maddie Gillin will serve as an account executive; and Lara Lee is a new digital designer.

Big retail bakery Cinnabon is now offering catering services, including delivery in select markets.

Alisa Walsh, director of business development for Los Angeles-based EventWorks, has been selected to serve as board vice president of SITE Southern California.

The San Jose [Calif.] Marriott has launched RejuveMeet, a group wellness program for events. The program includes such elements as nutritious banquet and break menus, team-building and break sessions featuring jogging, yoga and stretching, and seminars on wellness education.
