For a fusion of tradition and modern chic, the event team incorporated the use of an Asian water color painting of a peacock and peahen on the exterior, and for the interior, the invitation card text set in the middle of a Ming China plate design.
"Using the exterior design, we then adapted that to use for the design of the cover of an Oriental trinket box, whilst the interior Ming china plate design was used as the cover design of a tea tin. Both of these were then placed on individual settings as wedding favors for guests to bring home," they say.

The event relied on one big ballroom for both ceremony and reception.
As Sands Ballroom had a large foyer, the team decided to convert the first third of the foyer to be the ceremony area, and created a very traditional “Double Happiness” cutout as the backdrop.
"This became an interesting imagery of the fusion of traditional and contemporary as the couple and their bridal party were dressed in the Western traditional wedding attire, and stood in front of an eastern traditional backdrop," the team says. "This traditional backdrop had dual functions as it also became the location where both families and their guests stood to take photo mementos."

A beautiful--and glowing!--LED bar.
To add the element of surprise and raise the level of grandeur for the occasion, Chinese operatic acrobats on stilts and a pair of wedding lions mingled among the crowd during pre-function cocktails.
Another photo opportunity area was created in another area of the foyer so as to invite guests to move inwards as cocktail reception started.
This photo opportunity area was set against the backdrop of a 3D peacock and peahen amid landscape, bringing guests back to remember the invitation card design that they had received.
