Special events business news this week includes a new account director at Fifth Element Group and a new acquisition by Opus Agency.

Reuben Greenspoon has joined Toronto-based Fifth Element Group as account director.

Michelle Thornton,CMP, has joined North Hollywood, Calif.-based Russell Harris Event Group, included on the latest Special Events “50 Top Event Companies” list, as director of meetings and incentives.

Beaverton, Ore.-based Opus Agency, included on the latest Special Events “50 Top Event Companies” list, has  announced the acquisition of London-based event and travel management agency Number 20 Ltd.

Michelle L. Feitshans has joined Craddock Terry Hotel in Lynchburg, Va., as catering and events sales manager.

Dustin Westling, owner and managing partner of Calgary, Alberta-based OneWest Events, has announced that he has invested in Leblond Studio, an award-winning photo studio based in Calgary. He will take the role of executive vice president. “By welcoming Dustin as EVP of Leblond Studio, we are better equipped as we grow to keep on delivering excellence to our clients, some of them who’ve been with us for nearly 15 years,” said studio founder Stephanie Leblond.

JW Marriott Anaheim [Calif.] Resort has announced Maribel Denner as its director of sales and marketing. The new executive team will lead the resort through its grand opening, slated for April.
