Who's News in Special Events for Aug. 23, 2018

Special events news this week includes a new v.p. at GPJ and continued growth for CSI DMC.

Auburn Hills, Mich.-based George P. Johnson has announced the hiring of Marcos Ribeiro as vice president, global executive creative director, for the IBM account. Based in GPJ’s New York office, Marcos will be responsible for leading global creative efforts for IBM as well as expanding the local team in the U.S.

San Jose, Calif.-based Exclusive Destinations has rebranded to become CSI International. "This strategic decision has been made to deepen existing ties with CSI DMC," included on the latest Special Events "25 Top DMCs," according to CSI DMC management. "After years of successful partnership with CSI DMC, and a shared culture of best practices, this is a natural transition in response to the evolving needs of clients, wherever they may travel."

ILEA has announced its International Board of Governors for fiscal year 2018-19, including incoming president Sara Grauf. She currently serves as a senior vice president of San Francisco-based Giants Enterprises, the entrepreneurial arm of the San Francisco Giants dedicated to developing new ventures beyond the Major League Baseball franchise. 

Ramsey Price has joined Chicago-based Kehoe Designs as an event designer.

Taren Bradley has been named as director of corporate events for new corporate events expansion at Magnolia Bluebird Design and Events, based in Gaithersburg, Md.

Event rental software company Point of Rental, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, has acquired specialized computer-aided 3-D design program PartyCAD.

London-based live experience agency WRG has named Lucy Church as senior logistics project manager. Also joining the team are Lyndsey Tweed, who takes the role of logistics project manager, and Laura Smith, who is now a project manager. The company’s team in Manchester, U.K., is also expanding with the appointment of two new delegate managers: Ellie Brown and Paisley Williams

Cynthia Kunz has been named global sales director for meetings and incentives in the newly opened southern California office of Mexico’s Velas Resorts.
