Who’s News in Special Events for Feb. 8, 2018

Special events business news this week includes new management at FIRST and the new rental platform Event Options.

New York-based FIRST, included on the latest Special Events “50 Top Event Companies,” has announced that CEO-Americas Maureen Ryan Fable is being promoted to CEO-Group; chief client officer Barry Richards is moving into the role of CEO-Europe for 18 months; and managing director London Mark Riches is moving to a non-executive director role. The change comes after the recent acquisition of U.K. based experiential and creative agency Clive, which has offices in London and Dublin, and the 2016 acquisition of creative agency BKA in the U.S. Chris Hobbs will continue to serve as CEO-Asia and global chief marketing officer; board members Mark Rhodes, Ed Stanger and Jeff Kalpak will continue in their current roles. Peter Godfrey will continue as chairman of the board for FIRST.

Longtime event executive Jim Etkin has launched Event Options, an online platform offering photos, pricing, dimensions, materials and other information for thousands of event rental products. The site is designed to display the lowest price available for its rental products, the company says. Currently in the Florida marketplace, Event Options plans to expand to top meeting destinations across the U.S.

John Eckert has joined Rose Brand of Secaucus, N.J., as installation manager.

Global sporting event management agency RGE—with offices in San Francisco and Chicago—has opened an office in London, headed up by George Pollington.

Bohemia, N.Y.-based New York Tent has announced that Cal Nathan, a principal partner of IDEKO Productions and NYFF Events, has divested from NY Tent LLC and sold his interest to Kuzari Group, an owner/operator of lower middle market businesses in the United States. David Tannenbaum will remain the managing partner and CEO of New York Tent. 

Orlando, Fla.-based Associated Luxury Hotels International has expanded its global sales team with the addition of Doug Rollins as regional vice president--South U.S.  Based in ALHI’s global sales office in Atlanta, he now leads and oversees ALHI’s Global Sales teams in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Orlando, Fla., which assist meeting professionals, association executives, incentive specialists and business executives in the region who are interested in conducting meetings, conventions and/or incentive programs at any of ALHI’s member hotels and resorts.

Teneo Hospitality Group, headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., has appointed Jennifer Milliron as director of sales for the Southwest Region. She will be responsible for markets in Colorado, Utah, Texas and Arizona.
