Special events business news this week includes the new board chair of PCMA and a new market for DMC Imprint Group.

Claire Smith, vice president of sales and marketing at the Vancouver [British Columbia] Convention Centre, has been named PCMA’s board chair.

Denver-based DMC Imprint Group, included on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs,” has announced that it will now be serving the Las Vegas market since adding AWG Destination Management Services to its portfolio of destinations. Imprint was also recently nominated for a 2018 Gala Award from Special Events magazine.

Debi Kinney has joined CSI Baskow Las Vegas as general manager and Ashley Arnal as account executive.

The following event professionals have earned the Certified Special Events Professional designation from ILEA: Tim Altbaum, Vario Productions; Lindsey Hollingsworth, Atlassian; Marcus Jones, Arizona State University; William Rathwell, City of Calgary; Virginia Schlitt, Travaasa Experiential Resorts; Tom Sibbald, Jones Lang LaSalle; and Julie Weeks, Jobe and Associates.

Suzanne Akers has been promoted to the role of manager of creative services at Ashfield Meetings and Events, based in Ivyland, Pa. Jenny Stankiewicz has joined the team as technical producer.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Over the Top Rental Linens has named Lauren Ratcliff as a sales representative in its Nashville, Tenn., office.

Linda Menshon has been named director of sales and marketing at the LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort in Naples, Fla.

MCI UK, based in Peterfield, U.K., has named Marie-Claire Henry as associations sales director.

British-based DMC representation company Destinations Unlimited has appointed Gulf Circle Tours, which serves Dubai and Abu Dhabi, to its roster of DMCs.
