Special events business news this week includes a new interim GM at WM Events and the announcement of the ILEA 2019 Esprit Award nominees.

Atlanta-based event planning firm WM Events has announced the appointment of Aaron Barba as its interim general manager.  He will be responsible for developing the position and enhancing operations while expanding external relationships during a period of growth for the company.

Francesca Radabaugh has been named vice president of operations at Delray Beach, Fla.-based Paragon Events.

Pittsburgh-based Crown Point Enterprises, dba All Occasions Party Rental and Marbella Event Furniture and Decor Rental, has acquired Lendable Linens, also based in Pittsburgh. The acquisition comes on the heels of Crown Point’s purchase of Be Seated, Akron, Ohio. “This acquisition now gives us the ability to increase our presence in the linen sector, and we look forward to serving customers with a full spectrum of rental products,” said Jason Brown, Crown Point chief operating officer.

The Creative Engagement Group, based in London, has launched Forty1, a new employee engagement division, focused on helping clients create strategies and content for deeper engagement with employees. Richard Burton will head up the new division, which will to deliver unforgettable employee experiences that drive engagement and business performance.

Visit KC, based in Kansas City, Mo., has named Nathan Hermiston to the role of senior vice president of sales and services.

Victor Scargle has been named executive chef at The Estate Yountville in Yountville, Calif.

International event show provider GES and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre have announced the appointment of GES as the MTCC’s official general service provider with a five-year contract.
