If you passed by The Pointe in Orlando, FL the last week of March, you would have noticed a lively energy. You would have heard people laughing and music playing. You would have seen the dusky sky punctuated by glowing neon balloons that were marked with little sombreros, balloons that read “Coastal Fiesta Block Party.” You probably would have wanted to join the celebration.
2023's Opening Night Party for Catersource + The Special Event was held in the open air, welcoming attendees to the warmth of Florida. The Pointe, an outdoor mall, blocked out a green space, The Hampton Social, and Kavas Tacos + Tequila, letting attendees gather for activities, entertainment, and conversation across a unique mix of spaces.
In line with the theme, attendees were offered sparkling rosé as well as margarita luge shots, where the shot was poured down a Day of the Dead-style ice sculpture, chilling the liquid as it reached the cup waiting at the bottom. Attendees could also grab a bottle of beer from a beer burro (a small burro saddled with small containers of beer). Food offerings included mini smashburgers, mini Maine lobster rolls, brussels sprouts, goat cheese crostinis, chicken flautas, a taco bar, and a variety of sweets, including lemon bars, snickerdoodle cookies, and chocolate chip cookies.
Meanwhile, a vibrant energy pulsed through the air as attendees mingled and tried different activities. Whether it was posing for photos in a vintage Volkswagen bus, getting their faces bedazzled, posing with llamas, getting caricatures painted on wine corks, posing with a retro-costumed beauty, painting a mural (which was transported to each consecutive event), or enjoying a variety of live music, there was fun all around.
After the first day of sessions, the Opening Night Party was a great way for attendees to relax, make new friends, and get inspired!
