The Special Event 2019 to Hit the Beach in San Diego

The granddaddy of event conferences gears up to make a splash.

Events are ready to make a splash in San Diego at The Special Event 2019, which runs Jan. 8-10 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Yesterday showcased the Academic Event Professional conference at Price Center at U.C. San Diego. College and university professionals discussed topics including security, protocol and keeping recurring events relevant.

Another highlight yesterday was the TSE Connects party, held at Side Bar in San Diego’s famed Gaslamp District. Guests enjoyed a casual evening of cocktails, appetizers and conversation.

ON TAP TODAY Today’s event slate at The Special Event will bring the launch of education sessions, including the courses “21st Century Customer Service in the Event Industry,” “Five Things Every Sponsor Wishes Event Professionals Knew,” “Rentals 101,” “It’s an Emergency: What Will You Do When Everything Goes Wrong?” and “Guest-Centric Design: Creating Truly Crowd-Pleasing Events.”

Showcasing events today will include the new San Diego Venue Tour, which runs 3:30 to 6:60. Attendees will be treated a range of different event venues, including the University Club at Symphony Tower, AMC Theaters Mission Valley 20, and the University of San Diego.

Closing out the day will be the Opening Night Party, which runs 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the USS Midway.
 
Highlights of tomorrow schedule will include the Opening General Session, the debut of the exhibit floor, and the new “Event Experience” at the Prado--an immersive event showcasing the newest trends in corporate and private events, fundraisers, galas and weddings.
