Pure Space Venue Debuts in Portland
New event and meeting venue Pure Space has opened to the public in the Pearl District of Portland, Ore. Operated by event production company West Coast Event Productions, the new facility offers 10,000 square feet of flat space and a fully equipped VIP mezzanine, management says. It features two sides of solid glass walls and an arched ceiling that rises more than 25 feet. Multiple-door entrances and loading areas make access easy, management says. More than 650 parking spaces are on-site, and streetcar access is nearby.

Swan and Dolphin Launches iPad Promo
Event planners touring Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., will now have the benefit of a sales team member equipped with an Apple iPad, enabling the planner to view diagrams and dimensions of meeting space, photos and menus, a map of the resort and other features from any location on the property. Planners on site visits presenting an RFP for 500 room nights or more can receive complimentary use of the iPad for the duration of their stay; those who contract the meeting will not only be able to keep the iPad but will receive another one for every 500 room nights booked. The resort's customized application offers simple touch-screen navigation for several categories of information including meeting space layouts, Disney services and information on partner companies for subcontracting needs.

Tysons Corner Marriott Renovates Grand Ballroom
The 4,680-square-foot Grand Ballroom at the Tysons Corner Marriott in Vienna, Va., has been refurbished with modern decor and high-tech amenities, management says, making it the focal point of the property's 9,731 square feet of total meeting space, which includes 15 meeting rooms and 10 breakout rooms. The Grand Ballroom, which seats up to 750 guests, features windows overlooking a busy street scene, plush carpeting and modern artwork. The space includes new drum-style chandeliers and high-speed wireless Internet access. Also on the property, Shula’s Steak House restaurant offers private dining rooms; custom catering options are available.
