Special events business news this week includes a big move into VR by Global DMC Partners.

Stefan Mueller has been named director of sales and marketing at Shangri-La Hotel At The Shard in London.

Washington-based Global DMC Partners, the big DMC network of include on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs,” has announced its partnership with Balti Virtual, a software company that specializes in augmented and virtual reality experiences. “AR and VR can help planners take their events to the next level and increase attendee engagement,” said Global DMC Partners President Catherine Chaulet. 

Los Angeles-based ANSA Productions, producers of the Los Angeles Auto Show, has promoted Terri Toennies to president. New executive additions to the team are Elly McCloud as vice president of marketing and communications and Maureen McGrath as vice president of sales and partnership relations.

Torrance, Calif.-based events company Choura has acquired design and fabrication company Studio Concepts, located in Carson, Calif.

The Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Portia Alyce Lawrence to national manager of diversity sales, Nyirah Jackson to diversity sales and inclusion program specialist, and Chaka Buraimoh to diversity sales and inclusion department coordinator.
