Special events business news this week includes a new owner for Simply Weddings Las Vegas.

Cristina Gonzalez has taken ownership of Las Vegas-based Simply Weddings Las Vegas from Brit Bertino. Gonzalez has been included on the Special Events Magazine “25 Young Event Pros to Watch.” Bertino continues to operate her companies Brit Bertino Event Excellence and Totty Belt.

Sophie Masson has been named president of San Diego-based GDX Studios, an experiential marketing studio.

Miami-based DECO Productions, included on the latest Special Events “25 Top DMCs,” has announced the relaunch of its Grande Affaires social division.

Eldorado Resorts announced that it completed its acquisition of Caesars Entertainment Corp. The transaction creates the largest casino and entertainment company in the U.S. The combined company owns and operates more than 55 casino properties worldwide, including an iconic portfolio of eight casino hotel properties on the Las Vegas Strip. Additionally, Caesars owns or operates casinos in 16 states across the U.S. including Nevada, Colorado, Missouri, Iowa, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, California and Maryland.

Association management company SmithBucklin, with offices in Chicago and Washington, has launched SmithBucklin VXP, a new process designed for executive directors and boards to identify and articulate how a virtual experience fits in with an organization’s overall business and product portfolio to drive member value.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association, headquartered in Washingtonhas announced that guests will be required to wear face coverings in all indoor public spaces. This mandate was part of the “Safe Stay Guest Checklist” for guests on how to travel safely while also creating a standardized safety experience nationwide. This checklist is part of AHLA’s Safe Stay guidelines, an industry-wide, enhanced set of health and safety protocols designed to provide a safe and clean environment for all hotel guests and employees.
