1930s Hollywood Glamour Sets Tone for 2010 Oscar Ball

A sleek, saucy, 1930s-inspired style will mark the 2010 Academy Awards Governors Ball, slated for March 7.

The veteran event team of Sequoia Productions, Wolfgang Puck Catering and Mark's Garden gave the media a sneak peek at event preparrations at a press preview yesterday at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

Drawing inspiration from style icons Dorothy Draper and Paul Williams, the design motif will be Streamline Moderne, Sequoia founder Cheryl Cecchetto told reporters.

Tables will be dressed in rich matte satin with fitted, glittery overlays. The menu will feature Oscar stalwarts such as smoked salmon appetizers cut to resemble the famed trophy, along with a revamped retro baked Alaska--this version featuring color-changing LED lights in place of the traditional flambe treatment.
