Best Event Produced By A Hotel Catering Department

Chicago Marriott Downtown Chicago/ Tamar Productions Chicago The year was 1955; the place was Havana, Cuba, or so it seemed at the Marriott's Club Tropicana party. Buffets offered Cuban and New World cuisine. A traveling cigar lounge invited guests to roll their own cigars, and a casino was in full swing. Guests were then surprised by a new setting: a nightclub and dance floor complete with an orchestra, flamenco dancers and a 16-foot water fountain.

Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows Kahala, Hawaii "Creative Native Cuisines, From Roots to Rhubarb Pie" featured 13 star chefs who fashioned foods for seven events over four days. The Mauna Lani's catering team produced and delivered the creative details for each of the seven theme events. The details ranged from constructing an African village to hand-crafting dinner menus fashioned after traveler's logs, complete with cinnamon-stick pens.

Westchester Country Club Rye, New York Guests of this country club boarded the Titanic and were transported to an evening capturing the spirit of the Edwardian age and the romance of ocean travel. Attired in period dress, guests dined on the ship's recreated menu and danced under the stars in authentically named and decorated dining areas reminiscent of the time. With Captain Smith's announcement that an iceberg had been sighted, sparklers simultaneously ignited, ending the unusual night.
