THE SPECIAL EVENT 2004 TO SHOWCASE NEW PRODUCTS

When guests at The Special Event 2004 march in the Opening Parade from the Opening General Session to the trade show floor on Jan. 7, they will find a wealth of exciting products and services on display, including some exciting innovations debuting at this year's show. The Special Event exhibit hall is open Jan. 7-9 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas.

TOOL TIME

Archbold, Ohio-based Bil-Jax, Booth 1200, will display its new Ultra-Stair, which is designed to attach to the company's Multi-Stage event staging system. Available in three sizes to fit stages from 3 feet to 8 feet in height, the product features a unique parallelogram design that adjusts to any surface it is set up on, making it an ideal product for outdoor applications, the company says. It can also be used indoors and requires less storage space than traditional stairs.

Signature Fencing Systems' EventDeck portable flooring, Booth 331, is a temporary flooring and pathway system that provides access and protection for sensitive grass and natural and synthetic turf. Each rollable EventDeck module distributes weight and creates a firm support base for tents and equipment, the New York-based company says. A specially designed canopy keeps grass moist and healthy, even after a multi-day event.

Evanston, Ill.-based Fritz & Zoe's, Booth 954, introduces its line of portable, reusable corrugated cardboard tables, unlike any other product on the market, according to a company spokesperson. The tables, which come in three different sizes, will be available in various primary colors as well as custom-printed designs.

According to Kent, Ohio-based Smithers-Oasis, Booth 1141, the new Oasis Design Ring is the only floral foam ring with a solid plastic tray center. Available in 10H-inch, 13-inch and 14H-inch sizes, the ring is designed for use with fresh-cut flowers and living plants; even bulbs will grow in the moistened foam. The one-piece design is ready to use right out of the box.

TECH TALK

The photo kiosk goes on the road thanks to the new Digital Easel from Hudson, N.H.-based Fantasy Entertainment, Booth 1217. The portable photo and sketch booth, which assembles in minutes and comes with a transportable rolling case, was designed to meet the requirements of event operators, the company says. Users can select from photo or sketch software packages, which can handle customized headings and logos for a variety of events.

On display at Booth 948, Montreal-based Orion Software presents Sirius, a Windows-based rental software program designed to efficiently manage many aspects of the event and rental industries. The company says that the program is designed to handle inventory and all customer transactions, from reservations to contracts to invoicing.

Wedding invitations go high-tech thanks to the new Customized Envelope Addressing online service from Waynesboro, Pa.-based Elite Personalized Creations, Booth 439. The timesaving technology allows clients to enter an address list and select from a variety of lettering styles and ink colors that match the invitation style; the addresses can then be printed on both outer and return envelopes.

FUN FAVORS

New Orleans-based The Flutter Fetti Fun Factory, Booth 1349, debuts a new twist on a party classic. “Corkscrews” are long, triangular tissue confetti pieces packaged in a tube of gold holographic paper. With just a flick of the hand, the multi-colored confetti — which is both biodegradable and flame-retardant — flies out of the 14-inch-long tube and sails to the ground in a spiral motion.

At Booth 446, Lake Stevens, Wash.-based Fortune Products will introduce “Accents,” its new line of battery operated, fully connectable light strings. Available in four colors — red, blue, green and white — the strings are made up of 12 LED lights with a battery life of up to 48 hours.

Adding a little romance to the proceedings, San Mateo, Calif.-based Glimmers Inc. presents its Twinkling Heart place card holders, sparkling away at Booth 531. The hearts, which measure 1H inches tall and feature two twinkling white lights, have an on/off switch on the back and a battery life of more than 15 hours. Replaceable batteries and a blank white place card come with each holder.
