Who’s News in Special Events for Sept. 12, 2019

Special events business news this week includes a new director of sales for Teneo and a strategic partnership between big DMCs PRA and Kuoni.

Teneo Hospitality Group, based in Eden Prairie Minn., has appointment Judith Segura as director of sales in Mexico.

Global events management agency FIRST, headquartered in New York, has announced the appointment of Steve Parkes as chief financial officer. In this newly created role, he will sit on the board of directors and will be accountable for the overall financial health of the agency, as well as all accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic financial planning, investment analysis, and allocation of financial resources throughout the business.

Big DMC networks PRA, based in Chicago, and Kuoni Destination Management, headquartered in Barcelona, have entered into a strategic partnership as part of their respective growth plans. PRA is included on the latest Special Events "25 Top DMCs" list.

Melina Davies, founder of the Olive and Thyme restaurant, will open a 6,000-square-foot commissary kitchen in Burbank, Calif., providing catering services.

Micha Brooks, CMP, DMCP, has returned to Boston-based Corinthian Events in the role of director of business development.

Amanda Ratliff has been named catering sales manager at the Karol Hotel, slated to open in Clearwater, Fla., in November.

Christian Apetz has been named executive chef at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio.

The Georgia Institute of Technology and catering company Proof of the Pudding, both in Atlanta, have announced a partnership to provide catering services to all premium spaces on game days at Bobby Dodd Stadium and McCamish Pavilion, as well as the Champions Edge dining hall in the Arthur B. Edge Athletics Center.
